Beyond the Blackboard: Shifting from Teacher to Facilitator

Administrator / 8 Feb, 2026

In an inquiry-based classroom, the teacher isn't the "sage on the stage" but rather the "guide on the side." This shift in mindset is the foundation of the IB philosophy and the core of what we do at RP Global Learning.

Facilitation is about creating an environment where students feel safe enough to take risks with their thinking.

3 Ways to Start Facilitating Today:

  1. Ask, Don't Tell: Instead of giving an answer, ask: "What makes you say that?" or "How could we find out?"

  2. Value the Process over the Product: Celebrate the research and the failed attempts as much as the final presentation.

  3. Co-Construct Knowledge: Allow students to help set the direction of the unit. When they have "voice and choice," their commitment to learning sky-rounds.

As we expand our platform, we are looking for educators who are passionate about this inquiry-led approach. Whether you are a guest facilitator or a full-time teacher, mastering the art of facilitation is the key to unlocking true student agency.
